Angiolymphoid Hyperplasia with Eosinophilia of Orbit in Young Male
Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is an uncommon benign clinical entity characterized by the presence of a variable number of papules, plaques or nodules of the dermis and subcutaneous tissues. ALHE shows a predilection for the head and neck area. Orbital involvement is unusual. A 20‑year‑old male presented with a 4‑month history of swelling of the upper lid of right eye. Magnetic resonance imaging orbit revealed altered signal density seen in supero‑medial aspect of right eyeball with adjacent inflammatory changes. The patient underwent anterior orbitotomy and excision biopsy of the mass under general anesthesia. Histopathology of the mass showed vascular proliferation and chronic inflammation accompanied by infiltration of eosinophils, which confirmed the diagnosis of ALHE. The patient recovered both functionally and cosmetically and had no signs of recurrence after 6 months. Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia with orbital involvement in males is a rare clinical entity, and further work is required to accurately describe its incidence, etiology and presentation. ALHE can be diagnosed and differentiated from Kimura’s disease (KD) on histopathological grounds. The presence of vascular hyperplasia with plump of endothelial cells protruding into the lumen is the most important discriminator in establishing the diagnosis of ALHE. Such distinction is crucial for the patient because ALHE is not associated with any of the systemic manifestations present in KD.Keywords: Angiolymphoid hyperplasia, eosinophilia, orbi
Immersive Virtual Reality and Robotics for Upper Extremity Rehabilitation
Stroke patients often experience upper limb impairments that restrict their
mobility and daily activities. Physical therapy (PT) is the most effective
method to improve impairments, but low patient adherence and participation in
PT exercises pose significant challenges. To overcome these barriers, a
combination of virtual reality (VR) and robotics in PT is promising. However,
few systems effectively integrate VR with robotics, especially for upper limb
rehabilitation. Additionally, traditional VR rehabilitation primarily focuses
on hand movements rather than joint movements of the limb. This work introduces
a new virtual rehabilitation solution that combines VR with KinArm robotics and
a wearable elbow sensor to measure elbow joint movements. The framework also
enhances the capabilities of a traditional robotic device (KinArm) used for
motor dysfunction assessment and rehabilitation. A preliminary study with
non-clinical participants (n = 16) was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness
and usability of the proposed VR framework. We used a two-way repeated measures
experimental design where participants performed two tasks (Circle and Diamond)
with two conditions (VR and VR KinArm). We found no main effect of the
conditions for task completion time. However, there were significant
differences in both the normalized number of mistakes and recorded elbow joint
angles (captured as resistance change values from the wearable sensor) between
the Circle and Diamond tasks. Additionally, we report the system usability,
task load, and presence in the proposed VR framework. This system demonstrates
the potential advantages of an immersive, multi-sensory approach and provides
future avenues for research in developing more cost-effective, tailored, and
personalized upper limb solutions for home therapy applications.Comment: Submitted to International Journal of Human-Computer Interactio
Global research trends of interleukin-6 in SARS-CoV-2 infection
528-535IL-6 levels are significantly elevated in COVID-19 patients and are associated with poor clinical outcomes. Inhibiting IL-6 is thought to be a unique therapeutic strategy for the control of dysregulated host responses in SARS-CoV-2. The present study focuses on evaluating the research productivity of IL-6 level in SARS-CoV-2 infection using various bibliometric indicators and analysed 4510 research papers related to IL-6 levels in SARS-CoV-2 from the Scopus database and VOS Viewer tool applied for visualization. The results revealed that ascendant trends in the publications and USA, China and Italy have secured top three position in numbers of publications. Study observed that “Dagna L.” received top prolific author rank. Article entitled “Clinical features of patients infected with 2019 novel coronavirus in Wuhan, China” received maximum of 15364 total citations, whereas “Frontiers in Immunology” and “Journal of Medical Virology” secured in top two highly productive journals in the subject with extreme link strength. With regard to organisation, “Tongji Medical College-China” reported highly dynamic organization. “COVID-19”; “SARS-CoV-2”; “Interleukin” received maximum occurrences with high link strength. In view of global mounting public health issue of COVID-19, primarily due to increased viral transmissibility and associated cytokine storm, the present study will helpful for the medical professionals to know the research trends and also library authority for updating collection development policy in the specific subject domains
Multi-center validation study of automated classification of pathological slowing in adult scalp electroencephalograms via frequency features
Pathological slowing in the electroencephalogram (EEG) is widely investigated
for the diagnosis of neurological disorders. Currently, the gold standard for
slowing detection is the visual inspection of the EEG by experts, which is
time-consuming and subjective. To address those issues, we propose three
automated approaches to detect slowing in EEG: Threshold-based Detecting System
(TDS), Shallow Learning-based Detecting System (SLDS), and Deep Learning-based
Detecting System (DLDS). These systems are evaluated on channel-, segment- and
EEG-level. The TDS, SLDS, and DLDS performs prediction via detecting slowing at
individual channels, and those detections are arranged in histograms for
detection of slowing at the segment- and EEG-level. We evaluate the systems
through Leave-One-Subject-Out (LOSO) cross-validation (CV) and
Leave-One-Institution-Out (LOIO) CV on four datasets from the US, Singapore,
and India. The DLDS achieved the best overall results: LOIO CV mean balanced
accuracy (BAC) of 71.9%, 75.5%, and 82.0% at channel-, segment- and EEG-level,
and LOSO CV mean BAC of 73.6%, 77.2%, and 81.8% at channel-, segment-, and
EEG-level. The channel- and segment-level performance is comparable to the
intra-rater agreement (IRA) of an expert of 72.4% and 82%. The DLDS can process
a 30-minutes EEG in 4 seconds and can be deployed to assist clinicians in
interpreting EEGs.Comment: 24 pages. For submission to International Journal of Neural Systems

Osmo-air drying of aloe vera gel cubes
Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis Miller) cubes of 12.5 × 12.5 × 12.5 mm thick were osmosed for 4 h in sugar syrup of 30, 40 and 50°Brix concentration and temperatures of 30 and 50°C at constant syrup to fruit ratio of 5:1. Osmosed and unosmosed aloe vera samples were hot air dried at 50, 60, 70 and 80°C with constant air velocity of 1.5 m/s. The water loss, solid gain and convective drying behaviour were recorded during experiments. It was observed that water loss and solid gain ranged from 39.2 to 71.3 and 2.7 to 6.3%, respectively during osmo-drying. The moisture diffusivity varied from 2.9 to 8.0 × 10−9 m²/s and 2.7 to 4.6 × 10−9 m²/s during air drying of osmosed and unosmosed aloe vera samples, respectively. Drying air temperature and osmosis as pre-treatment affected the water loss, solid gain, diffusivity at −p ≤ 0.0
SUSTAINABLE BRANDS – INITIATIVES FOR AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY
In recent times, society is preoccupied by the sustainability issues. Sustainability is mainly defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The concept of sustainability is composed of three pillars: economic, environmental, and social. We are going to discuss how the sustainable brands help in the sustainable life of people. Basically, the sustainable brands are the brands that contribute to sustainable development by delivering simultaneously economic, social and environmental benefits. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. There 17 goals of sustainable development. They are: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Decent Work and Economic Growth, 'Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure’, Reducing Inequality, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life On Land, ‘Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions'.Here in this research paper we are going to focus on the "Affordable and Clean Energy" goal of Sustainable development and how the various companies’ i.e. sustainable brands try to innovate eco-friendly solutions and reduce the sustainability issues
Various Flexible Fixation Techniques Using Suture Button for Ligamentous Lisfranc Injuries: A Review of Surgical Options
Contrary to Lisfranc joint fracture-dislocation, ligamentous Lisfranc injury can lead to additional instability and arthritis and is difficult to diagnose. Appropriate procedure selection is necessary for a better prognosis. Several surgical methods have recently been introduced. Here, we present three distinct surgical techniques for treating ligamentous Lisfranc employing flexible fixation. First is the “Single Tightrope procedure”, which involves reduction and fixation between the second metatarsal base and the medial cuneiform via making a bone tunnel and inserting Tightrope. Second is the “Dual Tightrope Technique”, which is similar to the “Single Tightrope technique”, with additional fixation of an intercuneiform joint using one MiniLok Quick Anchor Plus. Last but not least, the “internal brace approach” uses the SwiveLock anchor, particularly when intercueniform instability is seen. Each approach has its own advantages and disadvantages in terms of surgical complexity and stability. These flexible fixation methods, on the other hand, are more physiologic and have the potential to lessen the difficulties that have been linked to the use of conventional screws in the past
A DESIGN OF EXPERIMENT APPROACH FOR OPTIMIZATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ETODOLAC TERNARY SYSTEM USING SPRAY DRYING
Objective: The objective of the present investigation was to prepare and characterize Etodolac (ETO), Polyvinyl pyrrolidone K30 (PVP K30) and Hydroxypropyl β-cyclodextrin (HPB) ternary system in order to study the effect of complexation on solubility of ETO.Methods: Physical mixtures of a drug and polymers in different weight ratios (1:1, 1:2, 1:4) were prepared to study the effect of individual polymers on solubility of ETO. Spray drying method was used to investigate the combined effect of PVP K30 and HPB on saturation solubility (SS), Dissolution efficiency (DE) and mean dissolution time (MDT) of ETO. Design of experiment (DoE) was used for preparation and optimization of ternary system. Drug polymer interactions were analyzed with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Xray diffraction (XRD) and particle size analysis. Results: Results of solubility study suggested that there was significant increase in solubility of ETO with increase in the concentration of PVP K30, Polyvinyl pyrrolidone K 90 (PVP K90) and HPB (*p<0.05). This might be due to the solubilizing effect of PVP K30, PVPK90 and complex formation of ETO with HPB. Various combinations of PVP K30 and HPB prepared using DoE approach by spray drying method showed greater solubility of ETO than its physical mixtures (*p<0.05). Results of FTIR, DSC, SEM, XRD and particle size analysis revealed the interaction between ETO, PVP K30 and HPB. This suggested formation of amorphous ternary system with mean particle diameter in the range of 763±1.35 nm.Conclusion: Combine use of PVP K30 and HPB with DoE approach was an effective tool for formulating ternary system of ETO
